The Mini DP connector of this adapter can get damaged very easily so you better be very careful with the PINS while connecting it to your macbook, I recommend you to always check the pins after using it and always protect it with the plastic cap provided. I really think this is the reason why there are a lot of users complaining about the quality of this product (I got mine replaced because of this). Besides this problem which I think needs to be adressed soon by MOSHI, this adapter works perfectly with my early 2010 Macbook pro and my HDTV (audio and video) (Posted on 9/29/11)

This hardware has horrible engineering design. The bendable wire loses connection after minimal usage and is not sustainable. The company is impossible to work with regarding refunds or replacements. I cannot believe Apple recommends this product at all! Shame on them. (Posted on 9/11/11)

I just bought the new mac book pro and this was the recommended adapter by the store. clearly they were wrong. The video is amazing but it doesn't even detect audio and when i go to preferences it tells me this device was no audio capability when it says it on the box. This works perfectly on my 2011 11.6" MBA, under Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. The people complaining about it not working (even after a while) were probably using Apple's OSX.

This product is a complete waste of money. I bought one in January and by February it was working only about 50 percent of the time. Eventually it would only work if set to 1080i instead of the 1080p that it is advertised to work at. But after a few more months even that no longer works. I took it apart and you can see how cheaply its made. Its held together by wax like plastic and masking tape. It probably costs moshi about 87 cents to manufacture these so you do the math and see how much they are ripping you off. If you want a proper hdmi to mini dvi converter go to Best Buy and pick up their Dynex model, it even comes with a one year warranty. I will never be buying a Moshi product again and the fact that Apple endorses them almost makes me want to switch back to PC (Posted on 8/17/11)

I bought the Moshi Adapter after a lot of research. Though this one did it job perfectly well, it was good only for a few months, after which it would work only in a specific position and later completely stopped working. Don't be mislead by many of these other reviews... this product is a piece of junk. I had read a bunch of reviews on it from the apple site so I can't say I wasn't warned but I've had the same experience. Almost immediately it became ultra sensitive to its placement or the connection would be lost. It is incredibly frustrating. This MiniDisplayPort to HDMI port is not that bad, though res 576i is not displayed (you can not choose on display menu), and 1080i video in the interlaced display resolution wrong on 1080i preset. Very bad :-(. In summary, the port works perfectly only progressive resolutions. (Posted on 11/4/10)

This adapter is perfect. Audio and video settings issue / adjustments are not connected to this adapter:
- Video must be adjusted with the Mac or the TV/Projector;
- Audio volume can't be set from the Mac!! Audio on the HDMI is digital, so you have to adjust the volume on the Television/Projector.

The device works better than any other hdmi adapter ive tried but it has the same problem all of them had as well. no image will fill the screen unless i turn on overscan but then it just fills too much of the screen and i cant see the control bar on top. (Posted on 9/24/10)

I purchased the adapter several weeks ago and, at first, had little success in making it work at all. I sent the cable to moshi headquarters for testing and they immediately contacted me to confirm the situation. Their testing revealed that the adapter seemed to be working properly. Slightly frustrated, but impressed by the swift and courteous customer service, I awaited the return of my adapter. When I received it again, it still was not functioning in any way, shape, or form. At this point I was certain it was one of four things: my software, hardware (macbook pro 17"), the hdmi wire itself, or my television. I contacted Apple and ran some tests with them over the phone, again with no success, so I took my computer and the adapter in to the Genius Bar. Their testing also showed the adapter to be working perfectly, so my only remaining options were my hdmi cable, or the tv it self. I purchased a new hdmi cable, and brought it home.

IT WORKED!

I am very happy with my purchases all around. It is a shame I had to go through the trouble I did, but Moshi was great all the way through, and their product works perfectly just as advertised (audio included)!!!

Very good product of quality, audio, video on big TVs is no problem, even with Mac OS X 10.6.4.
The only down point is I am missing top and bottom part of the screen and I have black stripes on the sides instead.. Does it support the 16:9 ratio of the TV's??
Or a setting I am missing, please help!

After buying a another cable and spending hours searching forums trying to figure out how to properly configure my MBP to pass audio, I was beyond frustrated. I wasn't sure whether it was something was doing wrong or whether it was the cable. Well, it turned out to be the cable! I returned it for this one and it works like a charm.
